Project narrative
Context and challenge
Climate change threatens the rural economies at the heart of Africa’s food systems, while global climate finance remains hard for local institutions to access. Many banks and MFIs are not yet “climate-ready” — lacking the frameworks, pipelines and capacity to channel green investment to farmers.
AFRACA’s Green Finance & Climate Readiness programme closes that gap through diagnostics, capacity building and institutional partnerships.
Strategy and approach
The programme runs climate-finance capacity-building needs assessments (such as the analysis of Nigerian institutions), develops green-finance readiness concept notes, and engages central banks and members on climate-aligned rural finance.
It links members to green growth partners to build investable pipelines for climate-smart agriculture.
